Noreen Malik
ARTIST’S PROFILE
Noreen’s work is inspired by examining familial relationships and creating stories around these complicated dynamics. Her interests lie in exploring themes surrounding multi-generational relationships and inherited trauma, occasionally doing so through a comedic lens.
Moving to NYC by way of The New School, Noreen graduated in 2019 with a degree in Journalism and Design and a minor in Film Production and French Studies. Currently, she works in television production but her passion lies in writing and she is always working on creative projects. In the past, she has written and directed a short film (We’re Here), produced a three part podcast series (The Ahmadi Issue), and designed and written a zine (Munira’s Kitchen). She is now in the process of creating a comedy podcast, directing a music video, and writing a feature length screenplay.
She began her career in television working on the late night TV show, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. During her time on the show, she pitched the story Black Trans Lives Matter which was nominated for a GLAAD award. She also helped produce the pilot episode of Full Frontal’s new podcast, Full Release with Samantha Bee, and worked as a researcher on the series when it was picked up. Most recently she worked as an Associate Producer for a new Food Network show, coordinating shoots in four different cities in the U.S.
