Macarena Regueiro

ARTIST’S PROFILE

Actress, director, playwright, and visual artist, Macarena premiered her latest project LO QUE SE ROMPE in 2024, a piece she wrote, directed, and starred in alongside a group of dancers. In 2025, she restaged it solo in Madrid, with all performances sold out. As part of this project, she also composed the electronic pop track SLAP MY ASS, which she performed in several Madrid night venues.

Her work reveals a deep interest in blending scenic and artistic languages. Ranging from performative experimentation to traditional forms, her creative impulse always stems from a personal search, pushing the limits of both stage time and her own physical endurance. A strong connection to the earth is present across all the disciplines she explores.

She is currently supporting the creation of LA FAMILIA, a dance piece by bailaor Julio Ruiz, set to premiere this June at El Conde Duque in Madrid.

In 2019, she debuted her first personal creation FUMAROLAS at the Corral de Comedias in Alcalá de Henares, laying the foundation for her scenic practice as director, writer, and performer. In 2020, she traveled to Mexico City to direct her first commissioned piece. From 2021 to 2024, she directed microtheatre projects for THE PLAZE and FEVER at the Hyatt Gran Vía Hotel. As an actress, she has worked with various directors, including a notable collaboration with Isabel Coixet.

On Vendocieloytierra, she explores her visual art through pottery and oil painting. Her ceramic work navigates the boundary between utility and beauty, questioning conventional perceptions of everyday objects. Each piece is created with a clear function, but also an unexpected twist that transforms its use. From her Río Mugs, with long handles designed to be carried down to the river, to her soliflores that challenge balance, each creation plays with the fragility of clay while maintaining purpose. Even her ceramic handbags, which might seem purely sculptural, are designed to move with the body. Her ceramics invite interaction and a reconsideration of the relationship between object and body—between what we perceive as fragile and what actually sustains us. In painting, she works from discarded wood scraps to open new visual “windows.”
