ARTIST’S PROFILE

Ricardo Gomez, Madrid, 1989. Few actors can boast of having been in the profession for more than 20 years at just 30 years of age. After debuting at seven in the series RTVE Cuéntame cómo pasó, he played its protagonist for 19 seasons.

Ricardo’s interests and career extend much further and after some child and adolescent roles in theater, he began a stage as an adult actor with La cocina, a production directed by Sergio Peris-Mencheta, which would be followed by La Orestiada, directed by José Carlos Plaza and which premiered at the Mérida Festival, Mammon by Nao Albet and Marcél Borrás, premiered at Teatros del Canal and for which he received the Fotogramas de Plata award for best theater actor, Rojo by John Logan, co-starring and directed by Juan Echanove and El hombre almohada, directed by David Serrano, along with Belén Cuesta.

On television he also appeared in the Tele 5 series Vivir sin permiso and returned to play a leading role in La Ruta, directed by Borja Soler and produced by Atresmedia. This work brought him some of the best reviews of his career and nominations for the Feroz, Iris and the Actors’ Union awards, as well as an award from Cinemanía magazine. His last released work was the fantastic series Romancero produced by Mediapro for Amazon. At the moment he has yet to release La Lute, a Disney + series directed by Paco Plaza.

His great passion is cinema, both in front of and behind the camera in which he debuted in Tiovivo M.C. 50 (2004) by José Luis Garci, which was followed by 1898, Los últimos de Filipinas (2016) by Salvador Calvo, for which he was nominated for the Goya Awards, the CEC Medals and the Actors Union Award for Best revelation actor.

In 2021, he releases three films that allow him to show very different registers: the independent drama Mía y Moi by Borja de la Vega, the comedy Donde caben dos by Paco Caballero and the police action thriller El sustituto, by Oscar Aibar, which has received a nomination for the Feroz awards. In 2022 he released Carlota González-Adrio’s, debut of La casa entre los cactus, presented at the San Sebastián festival. At this moment he is filming Soy Nevenka, directed by Itziar Bollaín.

As a director, he made his debut with the short film Gracias por comer (2016)
receiving dozens of selections at festivals around the world and winning several awards. A year later, he co-directed with Miki Esparbé the short film Cariño (2017), which ended up being a finalist at the Noto-dofilmfest.
